Tenors Unlimited + Sing People Sing = PERFECTION!
Friday 25 May 2018 will forever be a very special day in the hearts of Sing People Sing. It was back in March that I'd received an email inviting us to perform with the "Rat Pack of Opera" Tenors Unlimited, just nine short weeks later Sing People Sing found themselves up on stage at The Regent Centre performing incredible music such as "Nessun Dorma" and "Barcelona".
Right from the start we knew this was going to be something special and the project became known as "the biggest thing SPS had done since Godspell" . From initial conversations with Jem Sharples (the Director of Tenors Unlimited) I begun to feel that this was might actually be even more memorable. Jem was a delight to work with and so encouraging and relaxed about the whole experience.
Rehearsals went really well (apart from one which saw me end the night in A & E!) and the choir took to the new music with ease. "Nessun Dorma" was a particular favourite and the choir couldn't wait for the moment they would finally sing it with the Tenors.
Here's the moment Sing People Sing finally performed the World Cup classic with Tenors Unlimited:
Sing People Sing were also thrilled to be able to perform two solo pieces during the evening and the choir's performances of Queen's "Somebody to Love" and my own Musical Theatre Mashup were met with rapturous applause and standing ovations. The Tenors even quipped about being upstaged at their own gig!
One of the absolute highlights for Sing People Sing was performing "Barcelona" with the group and following the success of the performance, it is now a song that the choir are considering adding permanently to their repertoire:
By the end of of the night Sing People Sing were on such a high that most were left elated and buzzing for days! Everyone received standing ovations and the feedback from the audience has been incredible. One seasoned audience member proclaimed it to be "the best night of her life!" and most were in agreement that it was Sing People Sing's finest performance to date.
So we owe Tenors Unlimited a huge thank you and hope it's not too long till the group return again (we've already been booked!) Sing People Sing can't wait til next time - hurry back soon boys!
