A new home and a new term for Do You Hear the People Sing?
Last Wednesday saw Do You Hear the People Sing? move to their new home at St Peter's School in Southbourne. The new hall built just last year, boasts panoramic views of Hengistbury Head, Mudeford Spit and the Isle of Wight in the distance. With all mod cons, the choir were treated to a special welcome video projected onto the wall 25ft high prior to rehearsal featuring highlights from both the term and the last few years.
Spring 2017 was an exhilarating term for the choir members with performances at the BBC, competing in the New Milton Music Festival and an "Acting Through Song" workshop with West End star Ben Goddard. A great deal was learnt and accomplished through all these experiences and the choir's commitment to the term was exemplary.
Do You Hear the People Sing? are now having a well-earned rest prior to the excitement of the start of the new term on Wednesday 26 April 2017. At our first rehearsal of Summer 2017 we are fortunate to be rehearsing in the De La Salle theatre which is on site at St Peter's. The choir will be using the space to it's full advantage with (amongst other things) the group working on projection and conveying character to an audience.
The choir will then be working towards Bournemouth Music Festival at the Pavilion Theatre on 17 June 2017 where they will be taking part in two classes. The term culminates in the annual Choir on the Beach which is one of the highlights of the year.
We are also delighted to be welcoming Ben Goddard back to Do You Hear the People Sing? this summer for a 3 day Summer School in August. There will be more details about how to book this coming up in the next few weeks.
Do You Hear the People Sing? are currently accepting new members for Summer 2017. So if you love singing, love performing and want to be part of a group which is more like a family, then do get in touch to discuss further. This is a limited offer and expires on 24 April 2017.
